Tatou from Flos
This autumn sees the launch of a new range of lights from Flos by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola. Tatou comes in two suspension versions (different sizes) as well as a table lamp and floor lamp. The inspiration behind the design is antique Japanese armour but the name 'Tatou' is actually French for Armadillo - the leather creature with a protective shell. Like its namesake Tatou gives the impression of having a protective coat but at the same time offers dynamism, lightness and flexibility for any lighting application. The 'shell' actually protects direct light to the eyes and produces a harmonic
play on light and shadow through the perforated sections. This is made
up of four identical elements which are all interwoven to form a unified
dome shape which diffuses light both up and down. Each light is available in three colours - black, ochre grey and white. From £250.00 - fantastic value for Flos - they're available now.
